MISSION VIEJO – CUSTOM KITCHEN, BATHROOMS, OFFICE & FIREPLACE REMODEL WITH NEW FLOORING

The APlus team was contracted to renovate a Laguna Niguel home that was suffering from a bad case of kitchen blandness. The original kitchen had a layout that limited working and storage space, and was composed of those typical oak cabinets that we see so much of in homes that are at least a few decades old. Our remodeling process started by tearing everything out and sealing up the wall where the former door was, simplifying the space and removing the problem of interfering traffic. Then, we installed smooth and glossy hardwood flooring in a rich redwood hue, and moved on to constructing all new custom cabinets in an expanded L-shaped layout. To give the kitchen a fresh yet traditional style, we designed the cabinets with simple molding, affixed them with classic black hardware, and painted them in a soft white finish. This color change had an immediate effect of brightening the room and making it feel far more airy. Custom elements like spice-pulls, fold-out corner doors, lazy suzans, vertical tray racks, and pull-out trash drawers are all incorporated into the cabinets.
To maximize the kitchen’s functionality, we also built separate cabinetry in the form of a center island that also functions as a breakfast bar. It is equipped with storage compartments and a double bowl sink, and has space for an under-counter dishwasher. Its stone countertop of marbled gray (also found on the rest of the kitchen’s surfaces) is extended on the outer side and supported with elegant corbels to provide legroom for informal seating. As for the defining details of the kitchen, it is a planned mixture of textures that gives it subtle uniqueness and a sense of personalization. The pairing of the sleek flooring and marbled counters combines with the geometry of a diamond-patterned tile backsplash along the walls to create visual interest. The neutral-toned backsplash is accented with gray bands, as well as a focal point above the stove and beneath the high tech wall hood. Orange County home renovations like this are our forte.
