An Irvine home needed a breath of fresh air when it came to design, so its owners called on APlus to execute a unique and beautiful renovation.
Before
The dark colors and close quarters of the original kitchen felt too oppressive, making the room one that wasn’t very pleasant to spend much time in. Considering that the kitchen is one of the rooms most often used by this client, this was simply unacceptable. We were tasked with making the space not only more pleasant, but also more practical.

Restructuring
There wasn’t anything about the old construction that the homeowner wanted to preserve, so we demolished the entire kitchen. This allowed us to start with a blank canvas. First, we installed bay windows to let in the light and create more counter space. Then, we got to work on the floors – dark hardwood planks from Gemwoods’ Pacific Treasures collection in a “Laguna Beach” finish.

We also built all-new custom cabinetry, with a multitude of drawers and pull-outs for easy organization. The team crafted the cabinets using Euro-style construction with paint-grade maple. Additionally, Jianas doors and a creamy white De Swiss paint finish gave the space a soft, refined look. Meanwhile, the countertops feature Pental marbled quartz in a Sierra Polished gray tone. They also include 1 ½-inch straight edges, which enhance the kitchen’s sleek appearance. At the center of the kitchen, the design introduces a new island to add casual seating and extra food preparation space. To create contrast, the island cabinetry showcases a rich, dark black finish.

The walls of the kitchen were given a glossy sheen with full height tile backsplashes. The tiles were Grey Arizona Tiles and Newport Eleganza Tiles.
Appliances
To maintain the kitchen’s clean and simple design, the client selected unobtrusive appliances. As a result, the appliances install flush with the counters and cabinets. Additionally, an Ancona Rapido Chef II range hood sits above a GE Café free-standing gas range. The double oven also features convection cooking for added performance. To the right in a small built-in cubby is a Panasonic 2.2 cu. ft. Full-Size Microwave.

In front of one of the new bay windows we inserted a Cape Dory Undermount Sink, which sits beneath the counter line to keep the flow of lines smooth. Next to it, the KitchenAid Undercounter Dishwasher nestles between pull-out drawers. All appliances have a stainless steel finish.
The living room fireplace received a complete transformation as part of the remodel. Additionally, a brand-new custom mantel now features a custom white paint finish. White stone surrounds the fireplace and complements the overall design. Together, these elements enhance the beauty of this custom home remodel in Irvine, Orange County.
