Located in the coastal community of Dana Point, Project 191 is a great example of how thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship can transform an older home into a modern living space. Rather than simply updating finishes, the goal of this project was to improve both the functionality and overall feel of the space while maintaining a light coastal aesthetic.
A Modern Kitchen with Custom Craftsmanship
The kitchen underwent a dramatic transformation to improve both form and function. Working closely with the homeowners, the team at A Plus Home Improvements designed a layout that maximizes storage, workspace, and visual appeal.
We built these cabinets in our Anaheim manufacturing facility. We designed them with a clean, minimalist style and soft neutral finish. The result is a bright and inviting kitchen that feels open and uncluttered.
A spacious kitchen island sits at the center of the space. Premium stone countertops with subtle veining top it. This island serves multiple purposes. It provides ample preparation space for cooking while also creating a natural gathering place for family and guests.
We carefully integrated high-end appliances into the cabinetry to maintain a seamless, sophisticated look. Also, We designed every element to blend effortlessly.
Revitalizing the Living Spaces
While the kitchen was a major focus of the renovation, the transformation extended into the surrounding living areas to create a cohesive design throughout the home.
We updated the fireplace with modern materials and a refined silhouette. It now serves as a striking focal point in the living room. This new design adds warmth and character while complementing the clean lines of the surrounding space.
To ground the bright walls and cabinetry, wide plank flooring was installed throughout the main living areas. The natural tones of the flooring bring warmth and texture to the home, helping balance the lighter elements of the design while enhancing the relaxed coastal feel.
The layout of the home was also thoughtfully improved to create a more open concept living environment. By adjusting the flow between spaces, the renovation introduced a “great room” atmosphere that allows the kitchen, dining area, and living room to connect naturally. This open layout makes the home ideal for entertaining while strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor living.
