51 – Lake Forest – Complete Home Remodel

While natural wood cabinets can be beautiful, their dusky hue can add further darkness to a home that has limited light. Such was the case in this Lake Forest home that we were called in to remodel. The original kitchen cabinetry had a medium golden finish, which would have been attractive in a home with more light, but only made things dark and dreary here. Additionally, the layout was very compact, making the kitchen feel even more oppressive. The owners enlisted APlus to brighten things up with a complete home remodel. We started by stripping down the kitchen to its foundation and replacing all its materials. Earth-toned stone tiles in various sizes were installed as new flooring, establishing a warm base. We built new custom cabinets in an expanded G-shaped layout, according to a traditional country style. The cabinets were given an effervescent white finish and track lighting beneath the upper cabinets, creating plenty of brightness to freshen up the space. The glossy muted gray countertops and white tile backsplash on the walls further reflected illumination, making the room feel even larger. The dark wood island has a bent shape, enabling it to provide work space, storage space, and casual seating. A built-in entertainment center allows the whole family to enjoy watching TV while they cook and dine together.

In the living areas of the home, we built custom dressers and storage cabinets that tied in with the kitchen’s new look. The guest bathroom also got a ritzy update, with a stone vessel sink, a stately bronze faucet, and a new white vanity with a granite countertop and a brick tile backsplash. For the laundry room, our contractors built another set of custom cabinets, with a small surface area that acts as incorporated work space.
