70 – Irvine – Full Custom Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel
Homeowners in Irvine sought to give their abode a modernizing update with the help of APlus. Our first task was in the making of a transitional L-shaped kitchen, which started with the construction of bright white custom cabinets. They were built with thick crown moulding and black hardware, as well as interior lighting in the two square, glass-paneled doors at the top. This adds an unexpected style element that is simple and modern. Track lighting was put in on the undersides of the upper cabinets, adding extra illumination. Multiple storage options were configured, including creative solutions such as spice-pulls. Over the stove we built a custom hood that has carved corbels, recessed panels, and moulding matching the rest of the cabinets. All of the appliances have casings built into the cabinetry, and were chosen in a stainless steel finish to give the room a sleek, contemporary influence. The new countertops are a major design element of the kitchen, featuring a gorgeous mottling of dark, light, and earth-toned gray granite. This organic patterning yields unexpected coloring and textural changes everywhere one looks.
The long island is built out of black cabinetry, and its counter is extended outward, supported by decorative posts, to make room for the stately bar stools on the other side. It contains an undermount double-bowl sink at its middle. The kitchen’s finishing touch was the installation of a diamond-patterned backsplash of beige stone tiles, with black accent tiles and a dark mosaic focal point.
In the living room, we built a moulded frame for the wall-mounted big screen TV, and next to it, a handsome section of recessed shelving with its own paneling and moulding. Looking upward, you can see that the moulding is extended up to the ceiling, with many levels etched in for polished, subtle detail. A similar look was achieved in the construction of hallway cabinetry, as well as in the laundry room. There, we put in the same counter as the kitchen, and added a small undermount sink. Above it is a backsplash of tan tiles. The counter material makes another appearance in the bathroom, upon the dark custom vanity. The flooring consists of uniquely patterned stone tiles in varying sizes, which extend into the glass-enclosed walk-in shower. Personalized touches include a diamond-patterned floor, a large ornamental focal point, and decorative tiling at the back of a built-in shelf for shampoo.
